*postnote: Just finished watching the movie. I reinterate that the OST is made outta awesomeness and this is a cool coming of age movie, I like the fact that it was fashioned to the 90s era of band boom in Japan, and it's something I can relate to. Not to mention that the director was the same director who did the music composition for All About Lily Chou Chou ... another awesome coming of age movie. Hrmm ... i'm starting to think that I'm really drawn to these type of movies. Final say ... recommended :)

I've just finished watching Ooku - and all i can say is an acronym.

WTF?

WTF indeed. I read the synopsis beforehand, so the story goes about reversed gender roles in ancient Japan focusing on the inner chambers (Ooku) of the palace. So I sorta knew what was coming ... but as i watched the film it's more of WTF? This is a load of crap.

And i really like modern period Japanese dramas because the costumes are stunning and the storyline usually has a pinch of modernity in them .... but for this movie, not only is the storyline ridiculous, I felt that reversed gender roles sorta backfired in this movie.

Grr... don't tell me it's a movie where the gender roles are reversed and yet it doesn't seem like it? Just showing men instead of women in the inner chambers = reversed gender roles?! What about emulating the traits of either genders instead? How about showing that men can be strong emotionally and the women calm and strong?

Oh yea. Don't even ask me about the ending, that's the most WTF part of this whole movie. ARGH!!! Nonsense.

I do not recommend this movie if you're looking for a good storyline on reversed gender roles.

I would recommend this movie if ur in need of desperate eye candy and you've expirated all other sources of eye candy.

On the day I met the seal I didn't remember much.

I remember being late for the meeting,
I remember having a meal with the seal and friends but the truth is, I had no appetite so everything was so blah. but good to see that they enjoyed the food. =)
I remember the seal being esthetic about the building, "wahhh so big" ... yea try coming to work everyday here, walking to your car is a workout on its own. Grrrr
I remember the small talk ... to get to know the seal and friends.
I remember that the seal was from Sarawak ... but I forgot where =P

But the thing I remember the most was ...
I remember the seal had really wet looking hair...
I tried my best not to stare at the seal's hair but I couldn't help myself. Damn!
I refrained from touching it ... but was so damn tempted.
I refrained from commenting about it ... but I really wanted to know how long the seal spent on his hair, or what product he used, ~~so I can avoid using it.~~

i love sites like justjared, fml, failblog, engrish, and all sorts la, i have em on permanent tabs cos they update often and i read them like everyday. all these peeps are mostly full time bloggers reaping their pay from ad revenue. damn it!

I initially wanted to fill 1200 characters for the about me section in my blog profile but I went overboard and wrote too much instead ... urm hence a lengthy about me as below.

She’s a Japanese loving wannabe who loves anything Japanese and secretly hopes to elope with one in the near future. But in real life, she’s a struggling PR practioner who’s learning the ropes of the PR world, one press release at a time. But what she really likes is writing critically about cinematic amazingness, although she does not do it that often anymore because it’s so freaking strenuous and time consuming (rerunning a show 10 times is hella repetitive torture). Yes. She would rather laugh at mindless Japanese variety shows than to do anything intellectual. And she does not give a f*ck that if it makes her sound bimbotic. And cause of that, she swears upon her dogs’ souls that her knowledge in Japanese dramas/variety shows pwns every single one of you guys out there. She’s a freaking otaku like that.

Back to cinematic amazingness, she has rewatched Ocean’s 11 for the millionth time because that is the epitome of a perfect movie to her, from the storyline to the amazingness of the cast. She also thinks that avant-garde directors are gods, the same way she thinks skinny cute Japanese guys in Jap shows are gods too. She has a love-hate relationship with genius film makers like Wong Kar-Wai, David Lynch and Takeshi Miike. She loves them because their vision is just out of this world but hates them for the same reason as it’s so difficult to decipher those “visions”.

She fawns upon stupid slapstick comedies that serve up flack and leaves you wondering what the heck was so funny about the movie, once you’re out of the cinema. She also loves Japanese tear-jerker-teenage-pure-love-flicks that makes her think how great if the world would work in such an idealistic way.

She’s an ethic Chinese living in Malaysia and her 1st language will always be English, although she’s ashamed to say that now due to the fact that her command of the English language has dwindled over the years. She likes to think of herself as a Malaysian who was fed too much Japanese branded milk as a kid (acc. to her mom, she was the only one who had Jap branded milk as a kid cos it was cheaper =_=) and has been exposed to the amazingness of the nihon world as a teen that shaped who she is now. Hence the whole Japanese wannabe-ness.

She will tell you that she’s a Johnny’s Entertainment fangirl at heart and she will be able to name you all the Johnny’s right up to those who joined in 2007 cos, in 2008, she felt that the boys were getting younger and she was getting too old to remember names of 12 year-olds and still seem legally sane. She will forever be in love with Johnny’s and is secretly saving up to see them in concert one day in the future.

Currently her job keeps her occupied and drives her insane at times. She’s grateful for the opportunity but she’s still trying her best to size up and fit into those ideal career shoes she tasked upon herself. She deals quite abit with social media during the course of her job and reading various blog posts, tweets and etc from the social media gurus of Malaysia is the best education she can get about the topic. She has then been very interested in the whole social media scene in Malaysia but alas, is still wet behind the ears to actually write or comment anything meaningful about it.

She’s also grateful that she has met a few pioneers of social media in Malaysia (she screams an internal fangirlie squeal when she meets any of them), and in her books they are pretty much demi-gods. Brave, independent, opportunistic and do not give a fark.

On the flipside, she has a unique name which she hated since kindergarden. Not only that it’s misspelt, mispronounced and misinterpreted, she has been haunted with FAQs on her name that she has contemplated to tattoo the answers on her arms to make people stop asking her those questions. But recently she has made peace with her name and her parents for “blessing” her with such a unique name which makes her damn special =D. It sure beats her brother’s run-in-the-mill-top-10-baby-names name. So she vowed that if she ever had children, they shall be named uniquely and suffer the same fate only to love their name even more when they’ve grown up.

So what is she like beneath the fangirli-ness and worship to all those mentioned earlier? Honestly she doesn’t know how to answer such a deep and profound question as she is still in a quest to find out the real her. When she has done enough of soul searching, she will get back to you on that question.

Today, my colleague came up to me with a pencil, a ruler and some measurements.
She asked me … how de heck does she measure 250mmx180mm.

I paused for a moment. Urm this a trick question right? then I really wanted to burst out laughing and say … aww come on! Ur kidding right?

But then I realized that she was serious and she was holding a cm/inch long ruler. And she said “I’m really not good at all this”. YES … she’s not kidding, she really didn’t know how to measure 180mmx250mm.

*too speechless to even say omfg*

I tried my best to hold in the chuckles and spoke in the most accomodating way I could cos yes she was damn serious that she doesn’t know 180mmx250mm is actually 18cmx25cm.
When I explained in diagram that 180mmx250mm was actually 18cmx25cm, she burst out laughing. And so did I.

Lol. Really manz, story of my life.

every weekday my dad would ask me ... "how's your day?"

i ponder seriously and i think how i could go on about how hectic work is to me, and how people treat me like crap, the bureaucraticness of work, how far i have to walk from my car to my office, how fucking slow the computer is, how no one understands what i'm doing, how i'm given a label just because of what i do, how i hate going for one meeting after another and not getting anything out of it, how everyone's so self centred, how i cannot write a presentation or a memo, how all the other departments are so unhelpful sometimes, how people in my own department are unhelpful, how my boss is a superwoman, how i hate my place, how bad the coffee is and etc and etc...

but i usually answer ... "it's okay" cos really, i would need a whole other day to explain how was my day today. Curious to know what you guys answer when ppl ask how's your day though. ~~but if it's fantastic plz do not tell me. i'm too depressed to share your happiness =P~~

shhh .... i heard fr my colleague that channel [V]'s doing something with airplanes this tuesday!! I SO FARKING WANNA GO!

but most prob i'll be stuck in office doing work. I had interesting encounters last thurs and fri ... both with gwai lous. At first ... i was a wee bit nervous cos i was afraid that they would not understand me, but it went okay. On thurs ... I met R-san, one of the HoDs and he was pretty nice albeit the, i-have-an-aussie-english-accent-whilst-trying-to-sound-malaysian-which-sounds-so-rojak-accent. He was very insightful and on fri I met C-san ... who speaks in a very standard I-might-have-popped-out-of-an-American-series-accent.

I think I have no peers. Everyone is so much more experienced and knowledgeable, and they've all been part of some big company before joining the big A. Some were from the big advertising companies ... others were part of bigger conglomerates. It's times like this that I feel that I’ve might have skipped important steps before being where I am ... important & essential steps...

sometimes i feel that i'm so ADD and i think the internet made me this way.

I have to have things now! like right now!! and i lose interest in things like the next day. I think it's because of the turnover rate of what i'm exposed to in the internet that ... i tend to forget so much and get impatient very easily... and jumpy when i can't get things now!

like eg ... i'm waiting for my A decoder to come and it's taking forever! ... i feel like it has been forever when it has only been a week or so. It's like i'm so impatient and excited that i get to see all 116 channels, I can imagine my ADD kicking in and me just channel surfing until i end up watching everything inc. tamil movies. I will be glued to the variety pack and NHKWorld. Heck it, NHK's the most boring channel in Japanese TV ... but it's the only Jap channel i'll ever have *smiles* for now *cough* I so hope they have the taiga「大河」drama, even though I bet I would not understand it, but it would be nice to see some j-actors on TV for a change.

*update ... OMFG!! they do have the taiga dramaaaaaaa* i think i'm gonna die =D

i'm tired =( and the thing is i've not even started any real work yet. I was away from office for ~~brainwashing~~ orientation yesterday and I went for a workshop today. So tomorrow, I might just die from shock cause after months of rotting i'm finally ... like really seriously working.

So ... I attended this workshop, like I said I would and it was interesting in many ways, cos it really gives you an overview of what blog marketing (or advertising) is all about in Malaysia and its trends.

Well, I was the noobest noob there or the greenest of leaves or the smallest ikan bilis out of water. You get my metaphors right? However in blog marketing .... most of us are noobs, so I was okay =D

It was an eye opener of sorts as I did have a better understanding about blog advertising after the ws. The thing that was very interesting to me, was the integration from online advertising to the offline events, something that Nuffnang’s doing very well … since they’re gonna have another one this Friday (as i read on angelic Ms. Koh's bloggie)? I find their campaigns quirky & unconventional in some ways … is that the reason why it’s working?

From what i've learned today, it's time to get the ball rollin' in this whole social media thingie (just maybe less quirky, I can imagine jaws dropping if I were to suggest a slumber party/PC); but then again the approach has to be different as social networking & blog ads are unlike the mainstream mediums that I’m accustomed to. (meaning … I should so pitch slumber party!)

I also liked the part when Kau Sern from the StarcomIP spoke about their POV and how they plan, implement and then measure the success of the campaign, which was very informative.

Overall it was a good workshop. I might have sucked during the exercise when urm ... I was presenting and I had moments of blankout-isms. Thank goodness for team members who stepped in during those moments. =)

I really regret not having my business cards cos although people just chuck those somewhere in a deep sad corner in the drawer, it was nice to receive/give something that people can identify you by. Also, I shouldn't have left like 10 seconds after it ended ... should have mingled kan? but claustrophobia got the best of me.

okays i'm gonna get a good night’s sleep, cos i really don't know if i'll get anymore of those in the future =)

Urm ... lazyla. to update about the whole krispy kreme experience, but the 1st person in line for a whole year supply of doughnuts lined up 2 WHOLE DAYS before the grand opening. THAT'S what I call hardcore kiasu. However, I present you with randomly captioned piccies of that experience.

I’m back, awake but barely.

It was a fun, tiring and ... truly unexpected trip. it was like a gamut of alot of thingsla, both good and bad. =) but overall I think it was a good trip.

Enjoyed the sessions that included liquor and ice cream =)
the absolutely fabulous company.
it's a pity that my mandarin was so crappy that i couldn't communicate properly and get to know such a sweet amazing girl like han lyn. I should so work harder to improve my mandarin cos I want to know people like her better. She’s just so niceeeee. I *heart* her.

oh speaking of languages ... i tried my amateur-learn-from-a-gazillion-variety-shows-japanese on another japanese! And he understood. よかった！しゃべりたいだけどでもいつも済みませんで、日本語はへたっくそう。日本に行きたい。

sucky quality but i am at awe at how they did it. Was the black small set a way of moving them around? but omfg ... 3 sets in one song, and flawlessly transitioning from one set to another and bringing fans to the 2nd set while the first one's being used ( i did see something like a door somewhere in the set? wateverla but it's still fantastic). And this is a LIVE recording... omg. The whole crew must be damn in-sych (right down to the fella holding wires for the cameraman) to pull this off, and all for a 5 mins performance. really man. the effort. is wow.

I've been watching project runway everyday in by the seasons and i love it!
For the first time i'm hearing the names of fabrics such as tulle and jersey. and omg. i love Tim Gunn, the mentor of Project Runway. I just love hearing him speak. It's rare to hear an American speaking so formally and he's articulate. It's as if he has a neverending vocab of amazing words to explain something.

I've watched seasons 2,3 & 5 so far and i'm currently starting season 4. My fave designers are David V.(S2) & Mycheal K. (S3). I didn't really fancy anyone from season 5 & I was too lazy to d/l season 1 cos it wasn't batched =P.

I made my own sandwich =) with tuna, eggs, fresh veggies, thousand island & chilli sauce in a warmly toasted wholemeal bread =) Yummy! x3000!!!

I bought a 1 foot wholemeal bread from carrefour for only 99 cents (the pic's a 6" though) and the filling didn't cost much too ... i spent less than RM3 to make this sandwich and i love the freshly made taste =) diy-ing always makes me happy.

i'm only sad that i didn't have cheese, bell peppers and bbq sauce, it would have been perfect with all those. ahh ... i wished there was like a cheap American styled deli in Malaysia selling the freshest sandwiches! Okay i wouldn't mind if it was a wee bit costly too, but as long as the veggies and all are fresh and made with the best cheeseeeeeee.

that would be like heaven. I don't really fancy subway nemore cos, the veggies are kinds soggy and i got sick eating them once =(. I'm gonna try it out with ham and cheeseeeee next time =)

Apparently she misread the question. (take note of the underlined characters)

On it's own, 円 means yen. 1円 is a round coin ... so do you get how this picture got about now?

LOLLL! she drew legs on the yen (円) so it would stand (立) and becomes a standing body (立つ体)rofl manz ... this had me laughing for hours.

I diy-ed it. multi-colored leopard! so now, can you imagine how free i am =) but actually it was kinda easy, dot and draw. It was just the tedious part of drying and dotting that gets on ur nerves =)

Out of fear that you guys may think i'm sorta like a techie geek, i've decided to write a girlie post about nail polish =)

Firstly my nails.nothing outta the ordinary here. but one of the more prominent comments i got about my nails was ... " wow! ur nails are so HUGE!" ... hrmm i didn't know how to react to that. =_=

nail polishes.

I used to swear by Faceshop nail polishes cos, it's relatively cheap, easy to apply and dries quite fast. I have almost all the colors from faceshop =P. For RM5.90 per bottle, it has a very good price to quality ratio. They have a newer more expensive range now. I did buy one bottle in silver, but the quality was similar to their normal nail polishes. so stick to the RM5.90 ones.

Currently i'm loving nail polishes by Skinfood. The quality's much better, application's easier and it doesn't get clumpy as easily as the faceshop polishes. but it's tad bit more expensive. There's also the pedicure nail polishes which i loveeeee, the sparkly ones are bout RM15.90 (as in the picture) but it's damn gooooood! I bought the silver one in 2007! and now it's still very much useable. also if you're looking for a topcoat, get the skinfood one! it really makes ur nail polish shine.

The korean brand i really dislike is elianto. I have 2 bottles, and i never want to get anymore from them cos firstly the lousy brush makes application difficult and it's really watery, hence it dries very slowly.

I also have other random brands ... like;
Sally Hansen - too expensive for mediocre quality.
Rimmel - the bottle's small, and no it doesn't really dry in a minute (but some colors are pretty =))
L'oreal, Maybelline, Revlon - i think they all come from the same factory. almost the same quality, not much variety, dries slowly.
Silky Girl - Cheap but the bottle contents dries easily if you don't use it (mine was difficult to apply after 3 months)
Chanel & Dior - tried my aunt's, ridiculously priced & nothing out of the ordinary. I rather get 10 skinfood nail polishes than one Dior polish.

other brands i would like to try;
O.P.I - like duh ... cos it's like the LV of nail polishes.
Kate & Majolica Majorca - always tak rela to buy cos the bottle's so small and expensive. =(

My friend came back from kiwiland and bought me these chocos! These chocos have little kiwi pieces in it which are sorta chewy and so very delicious! =) thank you!

Otherwise, I watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button today. I think it was a shame that Brad Pitt did not win the Oscar for best actor. but then again he was up against Sean Penn and no one can win Sean Penn!! He's just a genius at playing unique characters.

I was sending my grandma home when omg! one of my old neighbours said hi. we all (together with other kids in the neighbourhood) used to play together after school when we were really young, then later we just drifted apart and didn't see each other much even though we're neighbours.

When I saw him jus now, i was shocked! He and his nice suit, with a cute gf/wife and shihtzu and also his bro, who now wears spectacles. totally can't recognize them anymore, but then again the last time i saw them was like almost 5 years ago!

I heart all HDTV releases now. I even watch some J-dramas and American series in HDTV cos i like that i can see everything clearly, right down to that concealer covered zit. LCD HDTV with Built-in Blu-ray Player is just double hearts cos ... it's only right that you watch HD stuff on a HDTV rite =)

Well with that LCD HDTV with Built-in Blu-ray Player, i need something to watch rite? So Koizora cos i wanna see my leng chai up close in HD *melts* and Ironman cos, all that action and high tech in SD ... IT JUST DOESN'T DO THE MOVIE ANY JUSTICE.

Cos I need all the space i can get. I've been getting lazy to burn out stuff whenever my HD gets full so with a 2TB HD, i may never need to burn out anything for a looong looong time =)

No ... it's not any chanel purse, it's THAT purse with the V shape patterns in that size and color, also if it comes with Fujii Lena ... it's a super plus. And yes I admit, I fell in love with that purse cos Lena has it. =) so pretty kan! both the purse and Lena =)) and oh ... the price? enough to feed the children in Gaza for a month, maybe.

Iyaa ... one purse after 4 techie stuff and i'm not even a tech geek!

I woke up at an unbelieveable time today. 3/4 of the day had already gone by, i suppose not sleeping at all 2 nights ago then waking up really early the day before really takes a toll on ya.

my parents went out shopping and came back and i was still asleep. omg. just imagine that.

The title says it all. My idol and another fellow idol were supposed to hike a mountain and find for some rare fungus which tastes like a cross between the blowfish and truffles. So he's a real complainer(1st vid) and a scardy cat(2nd vid). =) The UWAAA~! squealing made my day =)

I'm so tired today,

was out yumcha-ing then shopping and macam-macamla.
even took public transportation for the 1st time in like a million years. omg.
also ... so damn proud of myself for learning how to walk from KLCC to Pavillion =)
I saved money on a monorail ticket just cause of that =)
I feel so smart =)

I also bought a blazer from G2000 for graduation. It has some frilly thingies on the collar. ~~and the reason i'm saying this is cause i forbid anyone else who's going for graduation to get the same blazer for the same occassion. Bumping in to people who wear the same clothes is so wrong!~~

Randomly, a really cute bear which was part of my dinner today.
and another cute piggie mantau which the evil voice inside me decided to stab. DIEEE PIGGIE!

i'm like super dazed now.
I don't know why but i suddenly have so many things on my mind and thinking bout it over and over and then over again last night totally made me lose sleep.

I didn't even sleep a winkkkkk! =(
Now i'm having a splitting headeache & i'm still haunted but those stupid thoughts. and gahh ... everything else la!

I tried sleeping just now but I couldn't. I'm now sleep-lagged at 12 hours.
maybe i'm falling sick. I'm missing that preppy feelingggg.

btw, was at the hospital from morn 9am till late noon. turns out that bro just had some viral infection.

I've just finished taking pics of my beloved babies. May you guys find a fangirl that deserves you more than me. *sobs*
Was suppose to go to see Benjamin Button tomorrow, but cause my bro may have dengue, i have to cancel =( . F. Scott Fitzgerald is one of my favorite authors, and I don't read old stuff much cos i really find the dated, complicated, beat around the bush style of writing very irritating. But, he was one of those contemporary classic writers whom I feel doesn't write in that "dated" style. The Great Gatsby really blew me away. I was really at awe at how he writes, very different from the other during his time.

However my fave story from Mr. Fitzgerald's The Diamond as Big as the Ritz. His short stories really pack a punch =) and so much easier to read cos well ... it's short =)

Since I'm writing bout writers, for the 1st time in my life, 8 years after reading To Kill a Mocking Bird, I found out that Harper Lee is actually ... a woman. I am so ashamed of myself. It was after I saw the movie Capote that I realized Harper Lee's a woman. Nelle Harper Lee actually. *bangs wall*

Spammmm weeek! =) Japanese people have such a knack for confusing the meaning of english words. The most recent mix-up i've heard was マンシオン(mansion). In Japanese it actually means, a high class apartmart. Then why not use the word apartment? They do have the word apartment (aparto) but it's for apartments. SO if someone from Japan says they're living in a mansion. It's not a mansion, mansion but a high class apartment. Geddit?

Land must be so scarce in Japan.

There are other misinterpreted Eng to Jap words but I really can't remember them now. It's just everytime i hear the word mansion in a J-drama i get so worked up ... It's not a mansion darnit! it's an apartment/condo/suite/penthouse.

is this a spam week pattern? first i go about saying how absolutively bored i am then talk about an upcoming movie?Crows Zero 2, is directed by another acclaimed director Miike Takashi. Oguri Shun & Yamada Takayuki reprise their role in the second edition along with newcomer Miura Haruma. Kyaaaaa~! Haruuuuuma!
He's like a mini-god. and i'm loving every bit of his hair. Then again he's too cute to look bad in anything.

Anyways CZ2's going to be like CZ one which i would say in a less proper way ... 男臭い (reeks of guy-odour). It's based on a guy comic about these whole bunch of delinquents who fight to be the No.1 delinquent, and basically that's it. It's guys fighting for pride, guys fighting for their comrades and guys fighting to save the damsel in distress.

it's really testosterone filled with only ONE female lead which appear in very few scenes. but! because the stars are Japan's top actors, girls come by the droves to see this show and go キャァァ～！カッコイ！！(kyaaa~! sooo cool!), me included =)

i was out snooping around for the cheapest postal services (I have a memory like a bug; all the postal cost for different weights to different countries make my head spin), then back online again to set up a paypal account and to pack my beloved babies (a.k.a jap mags) in anticipation of their new homes =) . Iyaa i 'm sorta having second thoughts of selling them. but i'll just have to see how it goes (sheesh ... i've been saying "i'll just have to see how it goes" so much, it feels like such a no-back-bone comment!)

but i pray that my babies will be in the hands of a well deserving fangirl =)

otherwise on a more spammylicious note; i had beehoon goreng with coke this afternoon. =)

it's four.am

and i think i've officially screwed up my bio clock. I wake up at 12-2pm take my version of breakfast, then at 7pm when everyone else takes dinner i take "lunch" and "dinner" comes shortly at about 1am. So it's as if i'm suffering of some sorta sleep lag, where i'm 6 hours behind everyone else.

omfg. this is so screwed up.

but OMG ... it's Takuya Kimura speaking Engrish! It's also Takuya Kimura not in his usual stereotype role, and just for that, I SO WANNA WATCH! Takuya's a very versatile actor, I just wish the Japanese would stop casting him as the guy who saves the world. I've seen that one too many times.

Anyways, lookie at the trailer and the wiki page.

It looks like a pretty cool movie from the trailer. It's like those sorta triller art-house sorta movies, and Radiohead's doing the OST. Not only is the cast amazing, the OST too! Mr. Tran, you're my new idol.

so ... i just woke up. (rotting is fun kan).
i drove out to the nearest subway and had my fave turkey breast and ham in a 6" parmesan with all the veggies but no olives prease.

now i'm home, rearranging my room and sadly, i'm gonna sell off my japanese magazine collection. it's so sad that i'm letting 'em buggers off =(

but i need the space, and i think another more deserving fangirl needs them (and also i need the $$)
